Dr. Cassandra Rodenbaugh

Born and raised in Oklahoma, Dr. Cassandra Rodenbaugh always felt that life was more interesting and fun when animals were around, so her family was not surprised when she pursued a veterinary degree.

Although she did not know it at the time, the pivotal event that led her to where she is today was the devastating loss of her cat, Rhapsody, who died suddenly shortly after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. Rhapsody was a brilliant light in her life and continues to light her way today. Her story sparked Dr. Rodenbaugh’s interest in advanced imaging, including MRI and CT, as well as neuro-oncology. Working with clients and their pets during end-of-life care also became deeply personal and precious to her.

Dr. Rodenbaugh’s path to becoming a radiation oncologist has been full of adventure. Her training and career have taken her to the deserts of Arizona, the mountains of Colorado, the shores of New York, and across the plains of Oklahoma and Illinois. She is now excited to make Virginia her forever home.

In her free time, Dr. Rodenbaugh enjoys chocolate-making, drawing, calligraphy, and attempting yoga. Her house would not be a home without her pets, Matcha and Cleocatra. Matcha was her first-ever surgery patient and has been her loyal travel companion for every cross-country move. Matcha enjoys befriending spiders that wander into the home, throwing toys against walls, and digging through potted plants to find rocks. Despite her lavish, long-haired appearance, Cleocatra is a goofy ball of chaos who loves everyone she meets, fears nothing, and may be part raccoon because she spends her free time trying to eat every pastry her mother owns.
