Associate Veterinarian (Oncology)
Dr. Tony Rusk is an Indiana native and graduate of the Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine. He completed a rotating internship at Friendship Hospital for Animals prior to joining the onsite oncology practice. Dr. Rusk has over twenty years of clinical oncology experience and has been an active practitioner within The Oncology Service – Leesburg since the practice was founded. Early in his career, Dr. Rusk served as an investigator in clinical trials evaluating novel anti-cancer treatments in pets. Dr. Rusk works diligently to communicate clearly with owners so that they may have a better understanding of the available treatment options for their pets.
Outside of his clinic work, Dr. Rusk is the Chief Medical Officer for Animal Clinical Investigation, a contract research organization focused on identifying new therapies for pets with complex medical conditions. In this role, Dr. Rusk has served as Medical Director for a number of clinical trials evaluating novel anti-cancer therapies in pets. Hemangiosarcoma, osteosarcoma and melanoma are of particular therapeutic interest of Dr. Rusk.
Dr. Rusk is the proud father of two sons and is married to a fantastic small animal veterinarian. The family loves the beach and ski slopes, and dad loves all sports.
